By the time the 1930's closed, and the 1940's began, Jane was at the peak of her career. As war clouds loomed, President Franklin D. Roosevelt asked for help from America's performers to provide entertainment for American soldiers who were beginning to train in military camps across the country.  Jane responded quickly and graciously, giving many shows at places like Fort Belvior in Virginia and Camp Dix in New Jersey.  When FDR asked the USO to put together a group of performers to go overseas, Jane never gave it a second thought --she was the first to volunteer....(excerpted from "One Little Candle: Remembering Jane Froman" by Ilene Stone and Suzanna Grenz.)
